Lichý Norbert

Actor; Dubber; Composer (* 29. 12. 1964 Ostrava, † 16. 1. 2024 Ostrava)

He was on the theatre stage at the age of nine. After graduating from grammar school, he repeatedly applied for acting at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, where he was not accepted due to lack of talent. In 1984, he joined the North Moravian Theatre in Šumperk as an entrant, and after two years he moved to the puppet stage of the State Theatre in Ostrava (today the Puppet Theatre). Since 1997, he has been a member of the Petr Bezruč Theatre ensemble, he is also involved in composing music and rehearsaling.

Already during his high school studies, he founded the bigbeat band Skrat, which is still active today. His Mum Evelyn (*1940) is a former ballerina, and his dad Saša (1925–1986) was an actor, director, and playwright.

Norbert Lichý is the winner of the Thalia Award 2008, the Invisible Actor Award 2016, and the Best Performer in the Audiobook of the Year Award 2017.

Oral history of the Czech theatre

This project was launched in 2015 and seeks to capture the memories of important figures in the field of Czech theatre in audio recordings (usually around four hours long) and, in most cases, also in a short video recording (10–20 minutes long). The recordings are followed by a report of the conversation, which offers a summary of discussed topics and personalities, after every 15-20 minutes. Photographs and personal documents (both in digital format), provided by the narrator, are also available.

The Oral History Module provides a list of figures who have recorded their memories, along with a brief profile, current photograph, and the interview protocol. Full recording, including all the additional materials, is supposed to be studied by registered researchers in the Information and Documentation Department of ATI only.
